Library Policies

The mission of the SSMS Library is to provide a collection of materials and services that will enrich and supplement the curriculum and meet the individual needs of the students and faculty.

Reading is a joy, a privilege, and the right of every student. As you select the library books you will read, please understand that every book is not the best choice for every student. If a book is unappealing or offensive to you in any way, please return it and select another. You, the student know better than we, the library staff, what reading materials best serve you, your standards and beliefs.

Students will make regular visits to the library with their ELAR class. Students will also be allowed to visit the library with teacher permission throughout the day.

The library will open at 7:30 a.m. before school for students to checkout, renew & return books.

Students may check out two books at a time. Loan periods are for two weeks, and if needed, books may be renewed.

Fines for overdue books are 10 cents per school day, beginning the second day the book is overdue.

Each student is responsible for any book checked out in their name.
