Fine Arts
SSISD offers Art from 6th to 12th grade serving over 500 students. Art students participate in local and regional competitions/exhibitions, community projects, and international humanitarian projects (Enabling the Future - 3D printed prosthetics, Memory Project, Sole Hope, etc.).
Art students cover Art criticism, Art history, the elements of Art, principles of design, design thinking, 3D Printing, CAD, drawing, color theory, painting, ceramics, mixed media, printmaking, jewelry, sculpture, mosaic, digital Art and more.
SSHS Art Department alumni have been awarded scholarships to top Art schools (School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Maryland Institute College of Art).
The Art Department is under the direction of Dr. Philip Dick (Art 1-4). Amber Warren teaches Art 1 at SSHS. SSMS Art is taught by Jordan Ortloff (6th) and Ashleigh Duke (7th and 8th).

The mission of the Sulphur Springs Independent School District is to provide students with the skills that will prepare them to adapt and excel in a fast-changing world, enabling them to lead productive lives. The district shares with parents and the community the responsibility of promoting high standards and expectations as we provide opportunities for all students within our diverse community to attain personal growth and to become lifelong learners.
